Generative AI Basics for the Trauma Data Professional
Overview:
This one-hour webinar introduces generative AI concepts and focuses on how generative AI may enhance trauma data management. Designed specifically for trauma data professionals, the session explores practical applications of AI in daily trauma registry workflows. Participants will learn how AI can assist with clinical terminology interpretation, standardize injury descriptions, and support data abstraction processes while maintaining compliance and data integrity. The webinar distinguishes between appropriate AI use (such as terminology clarification and documentation support) and restricted activities (like medical coding and clinical decision-making).
Special emphasis is placed on data stewardship and the ethical use of generative AI: ensuring HIPAA compliance, maintaining data quality, and recognizing AI bias and limitations in trauma registry work. The session includes strategies for evaluating AI tools, implementing quality control measures, and protecting sensitive patient information. Attendees will receive the following resources: a GenAI Use Evaluation Checklist and a Resource Guide for Trauma Data Professionals
