Overview: The Advanced Operations Management for Trauma Centers course, developed by Dr. Jeff Young, will be a unique experience. Unlike other offerings, we will go beyond the basic structure and criteria for trauma center verification and dive deeply into the common and critical problems that a trauma medical director or trauma program manager will face in trying to provide optimal care for injured patients. This will include in-depth discussions of performance improvement in all aspects of trauma care delivery ranging from relationships with EMS to discharge and rehabilitation. Dr. Young’s experience administering a trauma center for 29 years and his overwhelming experience as a trauma center site reviewer for the American College of Surgeons gives him insight into his own processes and best practices he is seen across the country. The course will endeavor to be as interactive as possible so that students can share their own experiences and solicit advice on their most vexing problems.
