W Score (Recorded)
Overview: The W Score is a dynamic tool that can be used to evaluate your trauma center's performance. It describes the number of unexpected outcomes per 100 patients. It is not tied to any external comparison groups like the M and Z statistic. Therefore, it an easy way to analyze any aspect of your program's performance. In this session we will discuss, the benefits of the W Score, how to calculate, and how to implement it into your performance improvement program.

Know your Speaker: Michelle Pomphrey - Pomphrey Consulting President, MLT, RN, CSTR, began her work in trauma registries in 1993, by establishing the University of Virginia Health Systems registry program. She joined the American Trauma Society in 1994 and was a founding member of the Trauma Registrar's Council, serving as the first elected chair in 1996. She served on their Board of Directors for 16 years, as well as the national course coordinator for the ATS Trauma Registrar Course. She brings all of her years of nursing, pre-hospital, and trauma registrar experience to her company. She has managed Pomphrey Consulting, LLC for the past 20 years with one vision, to RISE to every opportunity to serve the trauma community. Her mission therefore, is to empower trauma centers through quality education, training, and staffing in the pursuit of quality data.
